Bio:Shotgun House is a duo formed in New Orleans in 2002 after the pair left an electric band to play delta blues in an acoustic mode. Frankie King plays acoustic, slide and 12 string guitars and Marko Roxx plays bass. Rehearsing in the living rooms of their shotgun house homes, the band has developed an extensive catalog of material, both traditional and experimental. "We cover the likes of Robert Johnson and Big Bill Broonzy as well as doing songs Frankie has written, often featuring the 12 string, something you don't see all that often here", says the bassist.
Together, the duo has appeared in clubs throughout New Orleans, including a regular Monday night gig at the Apple Barrel on Frenchmen Street throughout 2004 until Katrina. They released their eponymous debut CD in 2005 and, after a period away from New Orleans post-Katrina, have returned to action all the better for the time away, happy to be back playing music in New Orleans again. "Frankie ended up in Kansas and I went to California and both of us remained active musically but there is nothing like playing in New Orleans, connecting with its deep musical tradition every time we play", Roxx explains.
