Bio:OVI-G and the FROGGIES: The name of the group comes from a musical family heritage, because in the 60s you could hear in our country, Guatemala, LOS RANAS (the Grandparents), a marimba group forms by our ancestors, parents and uncles. In the 80s appears EL GRUPO RANA (the sons), with ideas more modern within the tropical category, with their rhythm SOCA In the year 2000, Ovi-G and the FROGGIES (the grandsons) come with a mix with all the above: MARIMBA, SOCA, and TROPICAL etc. OVI-G: has formed part of many well-known groups like: "Banda Siglo XX" from Guatemala playing trumpet and percussion; Sagitario,Via Láctea from El Salvador playing trumpet, percussion, also as composer and arranger; "Grupo Rana" from Guatemala, as founder and owner, singer, drummer, musical director, composer and arranger. In New Orleans, he has been part of many local groups like: "Los Babies del Merengue" with whom he produced a CD with, he has also participated with "Fredy Omar con su Banda" in special events and in the famous JAZZ FEST in different occasions, and also with "Julio y Cesar Band" he has been pianist for 3 years. THE FROGGIES: initiate from their home, musically guided by their father Ovi-G (Ovidio Giron). In their early years they served musically in different local churches. With their father, they have been in different private and public events with folklore music with the MARIMBA, and different festivals like "MENSAJE FESTIVAL" in New Orleans and also "FESTIVAL DE LA HISPANIDAD" in Baton Rouge. In the year 2005, they participated with great achievement in the "FRENCH QUARTER FESTIVAL" which is one of the most important festivals in New Orleans. In their musical career: first, with their father, also in the arts school "CERVANTES", and recently finishing in "NOCCA" where they enriched the musical knowledge.
